Directives
Restriction of Hazardous Substances 2002/95/EC RoHS in Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive.
As the RoHS deadline nears, companies that have not begun the process of becoming RoHS compliant are behind the curve. The European deadline was July 1, 2006, and other countries follow soon thereafter. Component manufacturers are already discontinuing non-compliant parts, and every electronic product is impacted.
WEEE Directive 2002/96/EC
WEEE encourages and sets criteria for the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of electrical and electronic waste – it affects any business that manufactures, brands, imports, sells, stores, treats or dismantles electrical or electronic products within the European Union (EU).
End-of-Life Vehicle Directive, 2000/53/EC.
This European Union directive restricts the presence of lead, cadmium, mercury, and hexavalent chromium in vehicles. It also sets requirements for increasing reuse, recycling, and other forms of recovery of end-of life vehicles (ELV) and their components.
